Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about the free online matrix calculator.
Type matrix A and matrix B with one row per line, choose A x B and press Calculate. The
shapes are checked before multiplying.
Write one row per line and separate the values with spaces or commas, so a two by two matrix
is simply 1 2 on one line.
The number of columns in A must equal the number of rows in B. The tool refuses the operation
and explains why otherwise.
Addition works only when both matrices have exactly the same number of rows and columns, and
each pair of entries is added.
It flips the matrix over its diagonal so rows become columns. A three by two matrix therefore
becomes two by three.
No. A times B and B times A are usually different, and one of them may not even be defined
for a given pair of shapes.
Any size you like, as long as the matrix fits comfortably in the text areas and the shapes
are compatible.
No. All matrix arithmetic runs in your browser, so your values never leave your device.
