Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the free online date format converter.

It writes ISO 8601, RFC 2822, RFC 3339, US, European, Unix timestamp, ordinal and relative forms from the parsed date.
The tool checks for a Unix number, then an ISO date, then a month name and finally a three number date before falling back to the browser.
Year tokens YYYY and YY, month tokens MMMM, MMM, MM and M, day tokens DD and D, plus HH, mm, ss and X for seconds.
The converter falls back to automatic detection. If that also fails it explains that the text could not be read as a date.
A date with no time is read at midnight local time, so the Unix timestamp reflects your own time zone offset.
It is in seconds. The tool also accepts nine to thirteen digit numbers as input and treats the shorter ones as seconds.
It compares the parsed date with the current date and describes the gap in seconds, minutes, hours, days, months or years.
Your device time zone. The offset is appended to the RFC 3339 output and shown in the working line.
No. Parsing and formatting happen entirely in your browser and the date never leaves your device.
