Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about the free online cocktail ratio calculator.
Enter each ingredient as a name and a number of parts. The tool scales every part to reach
your target serves or volume.
Put one ingredient per line as name, a vertical bar, then the number of parts, for example
Gin, a bar, then 2.
A part is any equal unit. The tool treats one part as 60 millilitres, so two parts of gin
means 120 millilitres of gin.
In serve mode it is your target number of serves. In volume mode it is the target volume
divided by the base recipe volume.
Parts are multiplied by 60 millilitres and the scale factor, and ounces are that volume
divided by 29.5735.
Named spirits are multiplied by the strength you enter, then divided by the total drink
volume to give an approximate ABV.
Dilution, ice melt and mixers all add volume, so a stirred or shaken drink is usually weaker
than the spirit alone suggests.
