Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about the free online binary to text.
Type or paste your text and press Text to binary. Each character is encoded as UTF-8 and
shown as groups of eight bits, one group per byte.
Paste the binary digits and press Binary to text. Spaces, commas and line breaks between
bytes are ignored.
Text is encoded as UTF-8, the standard encoding of the web, so accents, currency symbols and
emoji are converted correctly instead of being broken.
Characters outside basic English need more than one byte. An accented letter takes two bytes
and an emoji takes four, so they appear as several.
Binary is the numeric byte form of the same text. Every byte is written as eight bits, so the
letter A becomes 01000001.
The converter still decodes the complete bytes and warns that the leftover bits were ignored.
