Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about the free online timezone converter.
Enter the date and time, choose the zone it is in and the zone you want. The converted local
time appears immediately.
Yes. The tool uses the browser IANA timezone database, so summer and winter offsets are
applied for the exact date you enter.
More than 60 common zones across the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Pacific, plus UTC
and your own detected timezone.
When the offset difference crosses midnight, the target zone is on the next or previous
calendar date. The tool tells you which.
It is the amount you add to the source time to reach the target time. A difference of plus 8h
00m means the target zone is eight hours ahead.
A timezone is a named region such as Europe/Paris, while an offset is its current distance
from UTC, such as UTC plus 2 hours in summer.
A few places, such as India and Nepal, are offset from UTC by 30 or 45 minutes rather than a
whole hour. These are handled automatically.
When clocks move forward, an hour is skipped. The tool then uses the offset in force just
after the change so a valid result is still shown.
No. Converted times are worked out in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
