How to use the Password Entropy Analyzer
- Type or paste the password you want to analyse.
- Choose the guess rate that matches the attack you care about.
- Read the entropy, the adjusted score and the estimated crack time.
Features
- Entropy estimate from the character pool and length
- Detects repeats, sequences and common words
- Offline crack time at three guess rates
- Runs locally, nothing is uploaded

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about the free online password entropy analyzer.
Entropy measures how many bits of uncertainty a password has. Each extra bit doubles the
number of guesses an attacker needs on average.
The tool multiplies the length by the base two logarithm of the character pool, then reduces
the result for repeats, sequences and common words.
Below 36 bits is weak, 36 to 60 bits is fair, 60 to 80 bits is strong, and above 80 bits is
very strong against offline attacks.
Patterns such as a repeated block or a dictionary word make guessing easier than the raw size
suggests, so the score is reduced.
It divides half of the total search space, two to the power of the adjusted bits, by the
guess rate you selected for the attack.
No. Use it to judge strength. Store passwords with bcrypt, Argon2 or PBKDF2 and keep them in
a password manager.
No. The analysis runs entirely in your browser and the password is never transmitted or
stored anywhere.
Yes. It is completely free, works offline once loaded, and needs no account, no sign-up and
no installation.
