Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about the free online palindrome checker.
Type it in the box and the tool reverses it and compares the two. The verdict appears
instantly along with the reversed form.
A word, phrase or number that reads the same forwards and backwards, such as level, racecar
or the number 12321.
Yes, by default. A phrase such as never odd or even passes because only letters and digits
are compared.
Numbers are compared as digits, so 12321 is a palindrome while 12345 is not. Leading zeros
are treated as characters.
Either the letters genuinely differ, or one of the ignore options is switched off so case or
punctuation is being compared.
Yes. Put each candidate on its own line and every line is tested and reported separately.
It maps letters such as e with an accent to a plain e, so accented words still compare
correctly.
They are ignored when punctuation is set to be skipped, because only letters and digits take
part in the comparison.
No. The check happens in your browser as you type, so nothing leaves your device.
