Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about the free online image sequence renamer.
Select the images in order, type a pattern such as frame-{nnn}, set the start index and
padding, then build the names and save each file.
Use {n} for the plain number, {nnn} for a padded number, {name} for the original name, {date}
for the date and {ext} for the extension.
Padding sets the minimum number of digits, so a padding of three turns frame 7 into frame-007
and keeps files in order.
Browsers cannot rename files in place, so each image is downloaded again with the new name
instead.
Yes. Leave the date field empty to use today, or pick a date and the {date} token becomes
that day in yyyy-mm-dd form.
Yes. The extension of each original file is kept, and the {ext} token lets you place it
anywhere in the new name.
Select as many as you like for the mapping table, and the first six are also offered as
downloads in the same run.
No. The names are built in your browser and the files are only read locally when you save
one.
Yes. The renamer is fully responsive, though selecting a long sequence is easier on a
desktop.
